Sixteen-year-old Louise Bradshaw has lived all her young life in the shadow of her pretty talented and popular twin sister, Caroline, Louise has heard again and again the story of how she was born first and then ignored while everyone worked on her "delicate" sister getting her to breathe. From that day on, Caroline was given all the attention, lessons to develop her beautiful singing voice, and opportunities to perform and be admired in church and school settings, Louise's growing resentment and jealousy of her sister have increased with every year. She longs for the time she can leave the island and her family behind. Then a special friendship with an old sea captain helps her to finally value herself for her own unique talents and let go of her anger so she can love.
